10 on 10 | april

(on the 10th of each month, I will be joining a group of amazing mothers and photographers, and posting 10 pictures…of both the ordinary and extraordinary moments taken throughout the day)

Here is the story of Clara and her BSFF Sophie, celebrating their tenth birthday by going an overnight trip to the American Girl Store with their mommies.  They  were born only 3 days apart, although I do like to tell the story of how her mom budged in the labor line, and decided to give birth 3 weeks early, while I was going on 12 days overdue!  Hard to pick only 10 pictures.  I have so many from this memorable day with my girl.

Now please go visit my beautiful and talented friend Rowe Timson…you may get to see some pictures of Bali where she is currently living with her family.

Rebecca Leimbach - Ha! My best friend and I had babies on the same day! She wasn’t due for 3 more weeks and I was a week overdue! She had her son at 6 am and I had Harp at 8 pm. So rude! I love every image but my favorite is drinking milkshakes.

what nine days in phoenix looks like

Spent nine days in Phoenix to round off our Spring Break.  I love the sunshine.  I love swimming.  I love being barefoot.  I love wearing summer dresses.  I love ordering buckets of beer poolside.  I love waking up and laying in cozy beds.  I love ordering room service.  I love watching my kids run amuck and play hard.  I love that my hair doesn’t get frizzy in the dry desert heat.  I love holidays with my family.

(lots of pictures…my apologies…I tried editing them down)

Met up with my Facebook, photographer friend Jenna and her beautiful children.   I met my match with picture taking obsession.  And she could drink a beer pretty quick too.  XO

Ashley - I want to take pictures exactly as you do. I love them all deeply. Like, in a tingly kind of way.

bee - Oh Ashley Meiners. You’re so funny. This thing is, I want to take pictures exactly as you do…so there! XOXO

Leslie - Love it! We’ve just arrived for 2 wonderfully sunny weeks in Arizona :)

Life with Kaishon - What a fun Spring Break. Nothing is better than spending time with family, right? : ) I love that they had cousin fun! I can hardly wait until the pools open here. The kids love it so much : ).

bee - Pools are the best! And the sunshine. And of course, some good family time. Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. XOXO

bee - Have a great trip Leslie! Say hi to the sun and warmth for me. Can’t wait to see some pictures…XO

Jackie Tyghem - Oh Rebecca…how I love looking at every single one of your pictures, and I soooo agree with Ashley!! Your kids crack me up. Every time I scroll through a set of your pics, I get a smile on my face and a chuckle here and there hahhahaha! You are fabulous and I want to steal your children.

stacey - Love them all but for some reason those ones of your daughter just slay me. Maybe because I’m realizing how quickly my own daughter is growing up.
Beautiful job and it looks like you had a fabulous time. xo

bee - Thanks Stacey! I feel the same way about my daughter too :( XOXO

bee - Thanks Jackie. YOu can steal my children anytime. I just want them back at some point. XO

kids were here | april

We are a group of passionate photographers who are setting out to document details of evidence that Kids Were Here. It is a fabulous idea introduced by the very talented and creative Ketti Photography.

So here is evidence that Kids Were Here the last 2 weeks of March during Spring Break.  One week skiing and hot tubbing in Whistler and the last week swimming and running around barefoot in Phoenix.

“in the the moment is is easy to get frustrated with all the mess and clutter that results from living with children. this set reminds me how quickly it will all pass. one day the toys will be in totes no longer played with. i will miss this. i’m reminded to slow down. to not stress about it. my happiness is not dependant upon everything put back into place and a neat and tidy home. one day we will have a wonderful reminder. evidence left behind written upon our hearts and minds of our children. photographs that will bring us back to this very day, when our kids were here.” -jude wood

Where we love is home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts-Oliver Wendell Holmes

I’m kind of obsessing on this session.  Maybe it was their dog that looked like a character from a Dr. Seuss book, and wanted to be in all the pictures.  But I think it was the family.  This most lovely family (and a really quick moving 17 month old), who made my job so easy by being relaxed and doing their thing and loving each other.  I cannot wait to meet the newest addition (and take some pictures)!

carleigh - big fan of this sesh. beautiful work – love that dog! xx

Christine Penrose - These are fabulous pictures!!! I love the dog in all the pictures…do you know what he is? I am guessing he might be a griffon wire hair, but not sure. I would love to know!

Thanks,
Christine.

bee - Hi Christine! Thanks!! The dog is actually a labradoodle…just a really big one. XO

ashley - oh yeah you work that light girl.
