the hastings family {an afternoon on clovelly}

I first met Holly and Rick 8 years ago when I illustrated a corporate Christmas card for them (my previous life).  They showed up at our little 1 bedroom house with their new baby girl Maisie and I remember thinking, these guys are so nice and their baby is so beautiful and I loved the name Maisie.  So 8 years later I had the privilege of photographing their now family of four.  We met on a sunny Sunday afternoon and hung out in their backyard and walked down the tree lined street to a path in my neighbourhood I didn’t even know existed.  It always takes me a bit of time to figure out what makes the kids, the mom and the dad laugh, as these are almost always my favourite shots.  Do they like my bum and fart jokes? Do they think it’s funny when I ask them to make out?  For this family, it was Rylan’s one armed man and knock knock jokes and his impersonations of some famous actor.  Thank you guys for sharing your afternoon with me.
