cooper-stephenson family {vancouver family photographer}

I really, really loved this session.  First, I really love starting photo sessions at people’s homes.  Lately I have been pushing this on clients, suggesting we do a “morning in the life of…”, or an “evening in the life of…”, complete with snuggles in bed, drawing pictures, reading books, making cookies, digging in the dirt in the backyard, etc.  I think at home, people are most comfortable and are themselves-unmade beds, piles of laundry and all.  And besides, so much life and living happens within a home, and this essentially is what I love to photograph most: real life and genuine moments.

I am also really loving going out the front door and walking around the neighbourhood in search of  great light and backdrops.  It is amazing and surprising what you can find within a few blocks of your home.  It may not be a deserted beach or a big open meadow of wildflowers, but I think it is just as good…and maybe even more unique, and real.

So anyway, here are the Cooper-Stephensons.  They were such good sports, and did lots of kissing when I suggested it (and even when I didn’t), and they even laid down on a blanket in the middle of a back alley!  I really loved spending an evening with this family, particularly my buddy Graydon with his low riding jeans.
